‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a security hold on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
