Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault

Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

These accusations come after an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.

A toddler was among those injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – described by police as was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
